Yet Another Day at Marcia's Studio

I love to travel all over the globe shopping for textiles to add to my wearable art. I have taught quilting to school children in Nepal, seminole patchwork to seamstresses in Thailand, and jackets and embellishment to quilters in Turkey where I also served as a judge at 2 of their International Quilt Shows. I have created garments for 5 Fairfield and Bernina Fashion Shows and teach classes on embellishment and wearable art. Lately I have been leaning more toward making art quilts.

The Wolf Quilt is back and I like it much better now that I moved things around a bit. Now it needs quilting and a few added beads for sparkle.
Marcia had re-arranged the Katie Pasquini fabric and now it looks more like a version of Jet Trails.Labels: Marcia DeCamp, Marcia's studio
Wednesday was another great sewing day with friends at Marcia's Studio. Time to catch up on how our holiday went and perhaps get a little sewing done as well.
I was working on Wolf Quilt II (the new hopefully improved version) and it still isn't quite right.Labels: Marcia DeCamp, Marcia's studio, Wolf Quilt
On Monday I ventured south to Palmyra to drop off some garments for next months exhibition at the Mancuso Show in Philadelphia and, of course, do some sewing. I needed to trim the three quilts I made for Pat Pauly's next challenge...the Exquisite Corpse. Marcia also has hers started and on the design wall. Mine are on the left.
My tops all trimmed up. Now they need binding, hanging sleeves and labels. I may also lighten up the "lights" a bit.Labels: Marcia DeCamp, Marcia's studio

Today I joined Beth Brandkamp, fresh from the wilds of Florida and North Carolina, for a fun day at Marcia's studio. Suki was having her usual winter rough day, and started out by occupying my chair.
Then she needed some loving from Marcia.
And spent some time in her favorite basket.
Marcia had three of her quilts which were either finished or in progress on the walls. While we were there she received notice that four of her quilts have just been accepted in major shows!
I worked a bit on a jacket I started a few months ago.
When Marcia put a couple of quilts on a table Suki had to inspect them of course.
I had purchased the leaf print yesterday and decided to see how it might work into a quilt or a jacket. The embroidery of the three ladies on the left will probably be incorporated into a jacket instead.Labels: Marcia DeCamp, Marcia's studio
This week 8 of us (including Marcia) took a class with Terry Jarrard-Dimond. Our first exercise was to compose two compositions using ladders as a theme. Some of our examples:

Then we were to make a couple of larger pieces again using ladders as a theme. My first one.

Inspector Suki showed up early to inspect the fabric I was using for a quilt backing at QBL next week for texture and stability.
She pronounced it ready for the next step.
Pat is too fast for me (and for most people) and my photo of her quilt is a bit blurred.Labels: Art Quilts, Marcia DeCamp, Marcia's studio
