Priscilla Kibbee

I love to travel all over the globe shopping for textiles to add to my wearable art. I have taught quilting to school children in Nepal, seminole patchwork to seamstresses in Thailand, and jackets and embellishment to quilters in Turkey where I also served as a judge at 2 of their International Quilt Shows. I have created garments for 5 Fairfield and Bernina Fashion Shows and teach classes on embellishment and wearable art. Lately I have been leaning more toward making art quilts.

Sewing Day at Marcia's Studio- The Mola Quilt

I decided to make a quilt from some of my molas which represent activities on the Kuna Yala...home of the Kuna Indians off Panama. It will eventually have a seminole patchwork border.

Marcia was finishing up this quilt.

And another for some one else. After it appears in a book Marcia gets to keep it.

I began squaring up this small quilt started in a class at QBL last summer.

This is better. Now I can quilt it.

Inspector Suki has to make her usual rounds.

My next quilt will be a turquoise camel. The first steps are to blow up the design after tracing it on acetate from the photo which I took in India in 2002. This will be used to cut out the fabric pieces.

Then transfer the design to muslin as the backing.

I still haven't been able to get the sky right for this piece. The original is on the right.

Another Holy Mola Quilt

This mola quilt wasn't shown on my blog from the dinner celebrating the Holy Mola Challenge. Barb Seils used this mola as her inspiration.
And made this beautiful leaf quilt.

Details.

A Quiet Day in Wolcott

Its snowy and blustery outside. I have been busy helping my son in law strip my computer and then reformat it. What a pain. My cat likes to get up on my computer chair and push the back pillow down and make herself comfy. Never mind that there are lots of other chairs and sofas to sit on.

Or make herself comfy in a rocker with tissue pattern pieces.

Or on my son in law's coat.

I'm thinking of using these molas and embroidery on a small wall quilt. Although using the embroidery is questionable at the moment. I would use a black background.
