Irondequoit Quilt Show

I vended at the Irondequoit Quilt Show in Rochester last weekend.

Its always a wonderful show with lots of colorful, beautiful quilts.

And the group absolutely spoil volunteers and vendors with an array of delicious food and snacks.

What young boy wouldn't love this one?

This one was my absolute favorite.

One of the vendors had this great kit which I had to have. I will work on it next weekend at the Casowasco Retreat.

Movie Night

This evening I ventured out to Lyons, about 17 miles away (and the county seat) to watch The Town at the beautiful Ohmann Theater. I thought it was an excellent movie and I was quite impressed with Ben Affleck who I had always thought was rather a lightweight.

The Theater was originally opened around 1917 and was lovingly restored a few years ago by a member of the Ohmann family...the original owners.

Its beautiful inside and even has Diet Cokes.

And you can even sit in the balcony. There aren't many movie theaters in the area where you can do that!

More Hmong Quilts for Sale

This is a very special quilt. It shows the famous "gold " temple, Tha Luang, in Vientiane, Laos, begging monks, the famous a Patuxai archway, the Mekong River, and refugees having crossed the river in Thailand leaving the area by bus. I have been purchasing these quilts in Laos for years but have never seen this particular style. The colors are more true on the small photos.

Tiger quilts are my favorites...no surprise there. This one is quite unusual because of its pink background.

It is a Laotian folk tale and the story is all written in English.

Except for the blue quilt to follow the quilts measure 34" X 49".

Sewing Day at Marcia's Studio

Jeanne was working on a quilt for her next Retreat.

Marcia is working on a fourth piece to match the first three which she made for Pat Pauly's last challenge.

And I finished piecing the Nepalese Batik quilt I had been working on. I will quilt it in two sections to make it easier to work on.

And Bev's dog Rufus came for a visit when Inspector Suki wasn't looking.

Busy Quilting Weekend

Thursday morning I headed for Rochester for the monthly Genesee Valley Quilt Club meeting. The member sale table in the back of the room is always a busy place.

There's lots of conversation before the meeting begins as friends catch up. Unfortunately we can't display the great quilts shown during Show and Tell every month now because our racks need repair. Beth Brandkamp did a better job with this month with photos which you can see on her blog:

Right after the meeting I drove to Batavia and set up my booth for the Museum Quilt Guild's show.

I shared a room with Divine Threads and Cottons, Etc.

Tompkins County Quilt Guild Meeting

Tuesday evening I attended the Tompkins County Quilt Guild meeting in Ithaca. Their meetings are held twice a month, with the last meeting comprising a business meeting. The raffle quilt for the 2011 Quilt Show was just back from the quilter and is absolutely gorgeous. The next step is the binding.

This was followed by a very short show and tell. Unfortunately the lighting in this area was poor for photo taking.

This quilt had four cute bears in the corner and another on the back label.

This one was made from African fabrics brought back by the woman's daughter.
