Wendy's going to Turkey

I told Wendy she needed a hat to wear on the trip to Turkey to the quilt show next month. She said she's not a hat person but was willing to try them on anyway. This may take some time.

Class I took with George Siciliano

I took a class with George Siciliano who does the most amazing tiny tiny quilts. They win prizes everywhere. The class was on log cabin blocks and we spent the day playing with blocks and making new designs.

Ann Fahl

Ann Fahl had a display of wonderful quilts inspired (I assume) by her black and white cats. I just love her work.

Shirley Kelly's Carousel Quilt

Shirley Kelly's quilts are always amazing. I was the quilt when she was working on it at Quilting by the Lake. Her work is just incredible.

I thought it was a wonderful mix of garments this year.

I was sorry that I didn't write down the names of the makers but the area was dark and I couldn't see the names in the back.

Lancaster Quilt Show

I went to the Quilters Heritage Quilt Show in Lancaster last week and met up with Wendy Strumwasser and two other quilters who were already there taking classes. I was interested in the wearables of course and took lots of photos:

Here's a closup of two of my pieces. I had a couple of other pieces that I made early in the week and didn't like later so I cut them up and made them into other work. That's the fun of using Wonder Under and fusing which was the basis of our work all week. You could cut work up and make it into something else.

A Week with Melody Johnson

I was lucky during the last week of March to be able to spend a week taking a class with Melody Johnson at the delightful Hudson Valley Inn in Greenville, N.Y. Marcia DeCamp from the Genesee Valley Quilt Guild in Rochester also went and we had a great time composing pieces based on Melody's direction. In between our efforts we feasted on gourmet meals prepared by the chef/owner. No one left the table before dessert, no matter how stuffed we were. And the cookies....................................oh my.
