Priscilla Kibbee

I love to travel all over the globe shopping for textiles to add to my wearable art. I have taught quilting to school children in Nepal, seminole patchwork to seamstresses in Thailand, and jackets and embellishment to quilters in Turkey where I also served as a judge at 2 of their International Quilt Shows. I have created garments for 5 Fairfield and Bernina Fashion Shows and teach classes on embellishment and wearable art. Lately I have been leaning more toward making art quilts.

Las Vegas - Bull Riding

Our last night in Vegas we attended the Bull Riding finals at the South Point Casino. It is the only one with a Sports Ring. It takes place on alternate sides for better viewing. Here the superbly trained horse chases the bull into the stalls.
When the action was on the other side you could still see it clearly on the video monitors in the center. The rides were also replayed there.

There were fireworks before the show.

The horse is after the bull yet again.

Here the bull is chasing one of the clowns.

The rider had to stay on for 8 seconds for it to count.

A clown act during a break.

The bulls look pretty gentle here.

One of the riders.

One of the riders hurt his head quite badly but rode again later.

Las Vegas Five - More Sightseeing

We stopped at a very pricey chocolate factory.
Which also happened to have a rather nice cactus preserve or garden if you wish.

I thought the design of this bark was very interesting.

I have always been a fan of this fancy cabbage.

Waiting for a water display at the Alladin hotel.

A window in the mall of the hotel.

Inside the Luxor. Like being inside an Egyptian tomb.

A wedding couple outside the hotel.

Private jets parked at the airport. The strip hotels are getting closer and closer to the airport.

The famous welcome to vegas sign.

Thousands of people had their photos taken here during the snowfall this winter.

There is so much traffic at this sign they had to cut out a parking area as people were just parking in the road.

Las Vegas Four- More Quilt Inspirations

Next stop was the Venice Hotel, with real waterways and boats and singing boatmen.

And in the square was a living statue, trying to lure you to have your photo taken with her.

With more statues downstairs, where water appeared to pour out of them. Loved the lanterns.

After awhile they exited the stage (and turned off the water) and went up the escalator for more photo ops I assume.

They were replaced by the tree people, obviously on stilts.

From the back.

You can see faces here.

And of course hats needed to be tried on.

Las Vegas Part Three, More Quilt Inspirations

The shops were just full of goodies you would like to take home (but maybe not pack in a suitcase).

And some of the shop windows looked more like art galleries.

This was a ceiling over a bar. Another great quilt?

And a light fixture.

These flowers might work out for a class I have coming up with Velda Newman in April.

This was an inlaid floor in a cafe. Unfortunately very dark.

And the fabulous drapes. Loved the trim.

The window in the Chanel shop.

It looked a bit hot for Las Vegas.

Sunset on one of the hotels. It was threatening rain but we only had a few drops.
