Priscilla Kibbee

I love to travel all over the globe shopping for textiles to add to my wearable art. I have taught quilting to school children in Nepal, seminole patchwork to seamstresses in Thailand, and jackets and embellishment to quilters in Turkey where I also served as a judge at 2 of their International Quilt Shows. I have created garments for 5 Fairfield and Bernina Fashion Shows and teach classes on embellishment and wearable art. Lately I have been leaning more toward making art quilts.

Trip to India Jan-Feb-2013 Goodbye Jodhpur

Up to the Indique Restaurant on top of the Pal Haveli for a fantastic view of the Fort.
As usual I had the butter chicken and rice.  The food here is ok but overpriced (you are paying for the view).  I like the food at the Govind Hotel better.
The clock tower from the restaurant.  I stayed here in the Pal Haveli a few years ago and found it overpriced, cold and impersonal.

Back in the market and my favorite antique bauble seller.
In the market again for a last view.  I have been here 7 times so it may be time to visit other areas of India in the South perhaps as I have been all over the northern area.

Trip to India Jan-Feb 2013, Jodhpur Again

Back in Jodhpur for three more days before heading for Delhi and home.
I always love staying at the Govind Hotel for a number of reasons.  Jaggi, the owner, always gives me a wonderful room and a warm greeting.
I can walk here from the Railway Station (pulling my bags).  Its disadvantage is its on the second floor over a bank.  But another advantage is the wonderful, inexpensive restaurant on the roof with a view of the Fort.  My room even had a view of the Fort.
As always, I spent a lot of time in the Central Market.
With its view of the Fort looming over the City.
A shoe repair man near the Market takes time out for a chat.
Shop window near my hotel.
Flower sellers in one of the main squares.
There is lots of fabric in the Market but of poor quality.
The used sari sellers wait for a customer.
I love the look of vegetables in the Market.

A white horse on its way to a groom and an Indian wedding.

Trip to India- January-Feb-2013- An Encounter with a Cow- The Cow Won

Ok, this cow looks innocent enough now!  But earlier I was just walking along one of the narrow streets of Jodhpur, full of parked motorcycles, pedestrians, vendors, tuk tuks and motor cycles whizzing by and cows.  The black cow walked toward me and butted me in the head, sending me flying backward across the street where I fell and banged my head on a motorcycle pedal.  The locals picked me up and dusted me off.  Later I tried to send an email describing my incident and saying how happy I was to not have been hurt and fallen into cow shi_.  Ahd it was censored and I couldn't send it.  I was told I needed to reword it and that some words were offensive.
The next day i was off to Jaisalmer with a mid point stop at the Fort in Pokaran.  Built between the 14th and 17th centuries it is now a Heritage Hotel.
There are many small temples inside the fort and its a great place to stop for lunch between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.

Pretty courtyards but the unrestored section is rather gloomy.

Trip to India- January -February 2013

A view from the hotel roof from my hotel in Delhi.  Someone's patio.
After a quick overnight in Delhi I was off on an afternoon flight to Jodhpur.  The town has my favorite market, located near their Clock Tower.  I was just in time for a goat crossing in one of the narrow alleyways.
From the window of my favorite cafe I saw a vendor preparing some fast food.
 Garlic.
A beautiful view of the fort from one of the rooftop restaurants.  The fort is lit up for a few hours during the evening.
A view of part of the market from the restaurant.
 Chipmonks are everywhere.
Pottery market.

Trip to Jodhpur, India, Jan-Feb.2012-The Last Days

A tree growing out of the North Gate in the Clock Tower Market area.

A great view of the Fort from the Old Town area with a cow on the ledge.

The boutique shop associated with the NGO.

If you need a ladder you just go to the ladder maker by the market and have one made.

A view of the Fort from the roof of the Guest House.

The "Fort View" Room...a nice place to eat breakfast in the sun on cold days.

A town view from the roof.

Looking down at the Guest House courtyard.

The table where we all gathered for meals in the courtyard.

A painting in the upstairs hall.

And an upstairs hall sitting area.

Outside one of the downstairs rooms.

The family dog, Chili, who was thoroughly spoiled. Although I suspect she did quite a bit of the spoiling herself.

Trip to Jodhpur, India, Jan-Feb.2012-Back in Town

Back in town we headed out for a cool drink on the lawn of the upscale Ajit Bhwan Hotel nearby.

It was a beautiful oasis in a busy city.

The outdoor dining area.

The indoor lounge.

The building was originally built for one of the local princes.

Back at the hotel a party was underway for the son of the owner's cousin.

With cake, balloons and presents of course.
