Priscilla Kibbee

I love to travel all over the globe shopping for textiles to add to my wearable art. I have taught quilting to school children in Nepal, seminole patchwork to seamstresses in Thailand, and jackets and embellishment to quilters in Turkey where I also served as a judge at 2 of their International Quilt Shows. I have created garments for 5 Fairfield and Bernina Fashion Shows and teach classes on embellishment and wearable art. Lately I have been leaning more toward making art quilts.

Trip to Jodhpur India Jan-Feb.2012- Blessing the Building

During the last week the volunteers all went to the Blessing of a new addition to the NGO...a home for disadvantaged women. Margaret, one of the volunteers from Switzerland, had given the NGO a plot of land with a building on it a few years ago. Govind had raised the necessary funds to tear down the building (it was falling down) and construct a center for disadvantaged women. These are two houses across the street.

Another view of the street. This time from upstairs in the house next door.

The construction site and another building going up next door.

Women frequently do hauling in the construction sites in India.

More new buildings going up.

Govind's wife Mookta arrives dressed in a beautiful sari. Actually the blessing is hers because her astrological sign is right and Govind's isn't.

Talking to the woman from the house next door

The blessing begins. The Priest is wearing Tan. Govind's cousin assists.

A drummer arrives to assist.

Apparently this offering is buried in the corner after more blessings.

Mookta, Govind and Margaret.

And a few of the local cows.
