Trip to India & Nepal - The Ranakpur Temple

It was time to say goodby to Jodhpur and travel on. A demonstration in the market square.
A sari seller trying to sell Barbara a sparkling outfit. She bought it.
The sari sellers.
A wood fired water heater on the roof of our hotel

Then we hit the road by private car to Udaipur. There are very poor train connections and the only other alternative was a bumpy 7 hour bus ride. We stopped at a small restaurant to use the restroom. Up these questionable concrete stairs.
The more questionable upstairs floor.
The bathroom is inside.

Our first stop was the temple at Ranakpur. It was built somewhere around the 14th or 15th centuries. The date is uncertain.
The Ranakpur temple is one of the most famous Jain temple and dedicated to the first Jain Tirthankar (enlightened human) of our time cycle, Adinath (aka Lord Rishabha). It is a very big temple (ceiling around 7m high), made up of white marble, offers sculptures of same quality but different type than Dilwara, but is beautiful from the outside, too. It has more than a thousand columns none of which are alike

Giving an offering.
There were several of these elephants.
Receiving a blessing from a priest.
Flower seller outside.
