A Typical Mayan Kitchen in Guatemala

Probably the only unusual thing about this kitchen in the Guatemalan Highlands is that it is inside.  Many that I have seen are just an open area with perhaps a fence and an attempt at a partial roof.

Of course there is no such thing as a refrigerator, or electricity, or even a real stove.  If families are lucky they have a propane stove.  From the soot on the walls it looks like this family cooked over an open fire.
