Sewing Day at Marcia's Studio- The Mola Quilt

I decided to make a quilt from some of my molas which represent activities on the Kuna Yala...home of the Kuna Indians off Panama. It will eventually have a seminole patchwork border.

Marcia was finishing up this quilt.

And another for some one else. After it appears in a book Marcia gets to keep it.

I began squaring up this small quilt started in a class at QBL last summer.

This is better. Now I can quilt it.

Inspector Suki has to make her usual rounds.

My next quilt will be a turquoise camel. The first steps are to blow up the design after tracing it on acetate from the photo which I took in India in 2002. This will be used to cut out the fabric pieces.

Then transfer the design to muslin as the backing.

I still haven't been able to get the sky right for this piece. The original is on the right.
