Trip to Jodhpur, India. Jan-Feb.2012-Back in Town

As usual, I had purchased way too many saris from the sari sellers near the clock tower. It was time to mail some home. One of the local tuk tuk drivers I had gotten to know took the matter in hand and found me a tailor who would wrap the package for posting for me. In some post offices I have visited in the past there was a box wallah right in the foyer. Not here. It took a tailor an hour to construct the wrapping and seal the seams with wax in preparation for shipping.

I used to send packages by sea mail which is no longer possible due to the tension in the Gulf area. So airmail it went (for over $60) and sure enough, arrived on my doorstep safe and sound two weeks later.

A squatter family lived across the street from the Payal Center where we worked. And up the street was a similar area with 4 families inside a similar fence.

This house was right next door to the squatter family. You can see their fence in the foreground.

Interesting windows in this downtown building.

I couldn't figure out just what was going on in this building next door.
