Hanoi Vietnam

On our last day it was off to Ho Chi Minh's Tomb. It faces a large square where all the political parades are held.

We went on a weekend day and there were huge crowds which moved rapidly through the tomb. No photos allowed.

After the Tomb it was off through the Presidential Palace grounds next door. The Palace is closed but the grounds are open.

Ho Chi Minh refused to live in the palace and lived in a small house on the grounds, guarded here.

It bordered a lovely pond with Koi.

Nearby is the One Pillar Pagoda and an accompanying temple.

The One Pilar Pagoda was originally constructed in the 12th Century and is a local landmark.

There was also some kind of ceremony going on here.

We took a quick look at Ho Chi Minh's Museum which had a great statue but not much else of interest.

So we headed off to the Military Museum with its famous tower.

The yard is full of weapons , aircraft and wreckage from the Vietnam War (called the American War in Vietnam)

And cannon from other wars.

Back out in the Old Quarter we did more shopping. Beautiful dresses on the Silk Street.

And the Vietnamese Traditional Dress .
