Bhubing Palace, Chiang Mai Thailand

About 4 km past Doi Suthep is Bhubing Palace, the winter home of the Royal Family. The gardens are open to the public when the King is not in residence. They are extensive and quite spectacular. For 300 baht (about $9) three people can rent a golf cart with driver (required) to drive you all around.
In memory of the King's sister.
The rose garden and a rest house in the garden.

The main palace. This was constructed in the 1960's by the current King.

Guest houses. There are also numerous small houses for staff.

In one section there is a "tropical" garden with huge ferns, trees and flowers.

One of the stands of 200 year old bamboo. A few years ago the reservoir (which serves Chiang Mai) at the top of the mountain was re-done and the public raised the money to build a tea garden on its edge for the Queen who is much beloved.

Gardens past the Tea Garden facing the reservoir.

More old bamboo. One of the staff houses by the entrance to the grounds. Each of the King's children also have a private house here.
