In Elizabeth Barton's class, which I was a part of, we spent a very productive afternoon going over our series beginnings, and then discussing lots of issues regarding construction as well as marketing. When we finished the workmen were at the door waiting to take down the room Fun time is over.Friday, July 31, 2009
Quilting by the Lake, Week 2, Day 5
It was closing day after a wonderful two weeks at Quilting by the Lake in its great new location in Syracuse. By mid day most of the students fabulous work was coming down off the walls but I managed to get a photo of a few class samples from Dorothy Caldwell's class.

Quilting by the Lake, QBL, Week 2, Day 2
My class is still in the design stage, so it was back to the show to take more photos. This beauty is by Rosalie Dace who teaches here almost every year.

Quilting by the Lake, Day 5, QBL,
My piece so far with the grid overlay.
Without the grid overlay. It needs to have the bottom half finished, lots more shading in the top half, then tons of stitching and possibly embellishment, to say nothing of the background.

Quilting by the Lake, QBL, Day Four
Today was "Official Visitor" Day at QBL when they host tour groups through the facility. I took the opportunity to look around a bit at what other classes were doing. This is from Rosalie Dace's Fire and Ice Class.

QBL, Quilting by the Lake, 2009, Day 1, Quilt Show
Today was the first day of classes at QBL, Quilting by the Lake, in their new location outside of Syracuse, N.Y. It was wonderful to have all the classes in airconditioned classrooms. And the layout of the quilt show and the vendors was also spacious and improved over the last location. Here are just a few photos of the great show. This beauty is by Andrea Stewart.

And Still More Masks
This large wooden mask is from Guatemala. Purchased from a man who made them in the Zocalo in Antigua. (Oops, I think I should dusted this one before I took the photo)
Two wooden masks from Oaxaca, Mexico.

Another Great Day at Marcia's Studio
Inspector Suki showed up early to inspect the fabric I was using for a quilt backing at QBL next week for texture and stability.
She pronounced it ready for the next step.
Pat is too fast for me (and for most people) and my photo of her quilt is a bit blurred.
